PROUD: The Evolution and Sustainability of CAPTA Implementation in Connecticut Tuesday, May 19, 2026 12:00 p.m.–1:30 p.m.
Webinar
The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA), in partnership with Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), the Department of Children and Families (DCF), and Wheeler Health—lead for Connecticut’s Substance Exposed Pregnancy Initiative (SEPI-CT) is hosting a leadership-focused webinar on the evolving implementation of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) in Connecticut. Hospital leaders play a critical role in shaping and sustaining how systems support parents and families in recovery.
This session will engage participants in a high-level, facilitated discussion on the evolution of family care plans, hospital workflows, and decision-making related to reporting. Drawing on cross-system perspectives, speakers will highlight shared challenges, emerging practices, and opportunities to strengthen alignment across disciplines and agencies.
Emphasis will be placed on sustaining progress, reducing punitive approaches, and advancing equitable, family-centered care. Participants will also explore leadership strategies to support ongoing staff education and continuous improvement, with the goal of improving outcomes for families affected by perinatal substance exposure.
This session is part of the Parents Recovering from Opioid and Other Use Disorders (PROUD) education series. PROUD is a SAMHSA-funded program of DMHAS.
